1.2 About e‑Boks

e‑Boks is a digital platform that provides you with access to digital mail from both public authorities and private enterprises.

e‑Boks gives you access to:

  • letters, messages etc. ('Messages') from private enterprises and digital mail from public authorities;
  • your personal archives in e‑Boks;
  • communicating directly and securely with a registered enterprise;
  • signing agreements digitally;
  • making payments through partners and
  • using the services and functions that e‑Boks may offer at any time by virtue of e‑Boks' cooperation with third parties.

1.3 Limitation of liability

Unless otherwise required by law, e‑Boks cannot be held liable for the solutions offered by e‑Boks, the contents of Messages, notifications, or for loss incurred in the event of delay, non-delivery, incorrect delivery, loss of data, IT errors and faults, viruses, damage to your hardware or force majeure-like situations, regardless of whether such circumstances affect e‑Boks alone. Moreover, e‑Boks does not acknowledge any liability for damages for breach of contract, non-performance or non-functionality. Furthermore, e‑Boks is not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorised use, for example if other parties have been granted access to your e‑Boks digital mailbox or to your access to e‑Boks User Support, or if you have failed to inform e‑Boks of any irregularities or unauthorised use or suspicion thereof. Nor will e‑Boks be liable for third-party services offered via the e‑Boks solution.

1.4 Inactivity and death

In the event of death, e‑Boks reserves the right to erase the deceased person's data from e‑Boks after the period specified in e‑Boks' Privacy Policy. The same applies if you have not been logged into e‑Boks during the period specified in e‑Boks' Privacy Policy.

1.5 Changes to the terms of use

e‑Boks may change and update the terms of use on www.e-boks.com/danmark/en/, where the applicable terms will always be available. In the event of major changes, you will be notified thereof via your e‑Boks mailbox at a minimum of one month's notice.

1.6 Rights

All material in e‑Boks, such as names, logos, trademarks, graphics, texts, icons, images, software etc., belongs to e‑Boks and its partners and is protected by the legislation on trademarks, copyrights and marketing practices.

1.7 Governing law and venue

Disputes concerning matters regulated by these terms must be settled by Danish courts in accordance with Danish law.

1.8 Contact

e‑Boks can be contacted via www.e-boks.com/danmark/en/contact/

2. Digital mailbox

In your e‑Boks digital mailbox, you can access mail from both public authorities and private enterprises.

2.1 Legal effect

The Messages that you receive via e‑Boks will not be sent to you as regular mail. Messages received in e‑Boks have the same legal effect as if they were received by regular mail, for example regarding payment, acceptance and complaints deadlines. Messages will be regarded as having been delivered to you when they are made available to you in e‑Boks.

2.2 Responsibility

You are responsible:

  • for checking regularly whether new Messages have been delivered to your digital e‑Boks mailbox;
  • for ensuring that e‑Boks always has your correct email address and/or your mobile number if you want to be notified of new Messages;
  • for immediately changing your password and notifying e‑Boks if you become aware of or suspect irregularities or unauthorised use of your e‑Boks digital mailbox.

You are also responsible for the content that you archive in e‑Boks being in compliance with the applicable law.

2.3 Deletion

If you delete Messages in e‑Boks, they cannot be restored or recreated. You can delete Messages and documents in your e‑Boks digital mailbox any time. e‑Boks cannot access the content of your Messages. e‑Boks reserves the right to make Messages in your e‑Boks digital mailbox inaccessible when obliged to do so by law, or when other parties' personal data have been compromised by error.

2.4 Deregistration

2.4.1 Deregistering from receiving messages from a specific sender

Unless you have entered into an agreement with a sender which requires you to have an e‑Boks digital mailbox, or the sender otherwise has statutory authority to send you mail, you can opt out of receiving Messages from a sender in e‑Boks. You can deregister from receiving Messages from a private sender, including any pre-installed registrations of private senders, at seven days' notice.

2.4.2 Deregistration of digital mailbox

You may deregister or delete your e‑Boks digital mailbox at any time. However, e‑Boks will be obliged by these terms for as long as you use e‑Boks.

3. Digital services

e‑Boks provides you with access to various digital services at your own choice. The content depends on who provides and manages the digital service. The digital services chosen by you will be provided and managed by either e‑Boks or a third party.

e‑Boks has the right to pre-install services that are not in the nature of commercial services and which e‑Boks finds to be of relevance to all users. You may deregister from these services at any time, see clause 3.3.

3.1 Content of digital services

The content displayed when you access a digital service may be determined by a third party. When third parties make content available to you through a digital service, e‑Boks has no responsibility or liability for the content of the service.

3.2 Consent and verification

When opting to receive an add-on digital service provided and managed by a third party, you consent to e‑Boks being entitled to disclose such data about you to the third party as are necessary for the third party to verify you. You will always be informed about the data that are disclosed when you opt to receive an add-on service. You may withdraw your consent at any time by opting out of the service. See below on how to opt out of a digital service.

3.3 Opting out of digital services and pre-installed services

You may freely opt out of services in e‑Boks. To do so, simply delete the digital service in your settings. When you opt out of a digital service, this does not mean that you no longer have a user account with the third party that provides and manages the service, and this third party may still have data registered about you. To delete your user profile and/or your data held by a third party, you therefore need to contact the third party in question directly. Erasure of data held by third parties is not e‑Boks' responsibility.

4. e‑Boks Mobile

4.1 Scope

e-Bok gives you the opportunity to access e‑Boks Mobile via the e‑Boks App ('the App'). Not all functions from e‑Boks can be executed in the App. For these functions, you need to log on to e‑Boks in a browser. You can use the App to:

  • read and manage Messages;
  • save pictures from your camera or picture archive;
  • register and deregister senders of mail;
  • edit your user profile with email and mobile number;
  • and pay bills.

4.2 Right of use

You acquire a non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the App on any smartphone or tablet (iOS, Android or Windows) that you own or control, within the limits of these terms and Danish copyright law. You must not distribute the App or make it accessible on a network. You must not let, lease, lend, sub-licence or sell the App. You must not attempt to derive the source code, modify, or create derivatives of the App. Any breach of these terms of use and/or violation of Danish copyright law will automatically terminate your right to use the App under these terms of use. In addition to termination of your right to use the App, any breach of these terms of use and/or violation of Danish copyright law may result in legal action being brought against you. e‑Boks may revoke or change your right to use the App at any time pursuant to these terms of use.

4.3 Unauthorised use

If you suspect that other parties have acquired knowledge of your password or activation code, you must change these immediately. Password and activation code can be found in your e‑Boks digital mailbox under Settings.

4.4 Biometric authorisation

You can use biometric authorisation, such as touch ID or face ID, to log on to the App. For this to be possible, you must accept that the device's ability to unlock with biometric authorisation will be linked to your user profile in the App. You can only link the registered biometrics of the device to one user profile in the App. Other parties may make unauthorised use of the App if they have access to administering biometric authorisation on your device. You must therefore ensure that you have only activated your own biometrics as password. Only use biometric authorisation on devices to which only you have access and never on jailbroken devices. If you have taken over a device from someone else, first delete all saved biometric details before activating your own. If you hand over your device to someone else, always delete your user profile in the App first.

4.5 Termination of biometric authorisation

You can terminate your use of biometric authorisation to log on to the App by:

  • removing your user profile from the list of enabled users in the App;
  • logging on to the App and disabling your selected biometric authorisation under Settings or
  • deleting the App from the device.

4.6 Lost mobile device

If you lose your mobile device, you must generate a new activation code and/or password for your e‑Boks digital mailbox as soon as possible.

4.7 Blocking of mobile access

e‑Boks reserves the right to block your mobile access for security reasons on suspicion of unauthorised use. If your mobile access is blocked, you can contact e‑Boks.

5. User support

e‑Boks User Support gives you access to communicating with a support team that provides assistance in connection with use of e‑Boks' solutions.

5.1. Submission of personal data

You are responsible for ensuring that personal data are only entered in the user support fields designed for this purpose. If personal data, such as civil registration (CPR) number, are entered in the subject or description field as well as in the chat function, your enquiry will automatically be deleted and will not be processed.

5.2. Suspected unauthorised use

If you become aware of or suspects irregularities or unauthorised use of your access to e‑Boks User Support, you must immediately change your password and notify e‑Boks.

6. Commercial viewing client

e‑Boks grants you access to your digital mail from public senders. Your digital mail from public authorities can also be accessed from the public viewing clients (borger.dk) as an alternative/a supplement to e‑Boks.

6.1. Authentication of end-users

An end-user is authenticated by logging in to e‑Boks via NemLog-In.

6.2. Change of terms of use for end-users

A minimum of one (1) month's notice must be given of changed terms of use for the viewing client before the changes take effect.
